About Porn The Vote
Introduction:
Welcome to Porn The Vote! Persia and I have created this site as a means to address political and social issues related to the Adult Industry, with an eye towards bringing a sense of legitimacy to our business. As it currently stands, and for far too long, the Adult Industry has existed as a caricature, a distorted ideal shaped largely by the infamous Meese commission, convened during the Reagan administration that gave the likes of Andrea Dworiun and a dying, disgruntled Linda Lovelace a bully pulpit to hurl invective from while coining catchy slogans about porn being the theory and rape the practice without a scrap of concrete evidence to support the assertion. Dworiun was to the radical, lesbian movement to what Joseph Gobbels was to Adolph Hitler and the Nazi party. Propaganda can arguably be defined as the lie told long and cunningly enough, eventually becomes accepted as the truth.
Admittedly, the Adult Industry has had its share of unsavory characters and stunningly stupid blunders. In the larger scope of things, the industry is no different than any other business. Wall Street may appear to be respectable and legitimate, but Bernie Madoff is only the latest in an endless parade of scum bags who have preyed on the public and investors with enormous consequences and devastation to countless lives. One business does not justify the other. This is not an exercise in Adult Industry apologetics. We are merely attempting to place the Adult Industry into an objective context, comparing it to businesses in general.
Ask the average person what the first thing is they associate porn with and chances are it won’t be anything positive. Porn the Vote takes as its charter and its mission the task of challenging the litany of negatives associated with Adult Entertainment.
You will notice on the site a number of blogs, many of which were written by Persia and I together or individually. Blogs that address current, hot button issues, policing by the people we work with on this website to assure minors are not allowed to be insinuated into the industry. Many of our blogs reflect opinions, positions, values and ethics that are in opposition to what the average person in the Adult Industry might have.
Persia and I have some similar views and beliefs and others are quite opposite. My personal values are much more conservative than Persia’s. We have opposing views on abortion and gay marriage, as you will see from our blogs, but subsequently, porn stars are mothers and fathers too, and share hopes and values for their children as any other working mother or father in any other profession.
Porn The Vote is just beginning. As it expands, more features will be added to it. Persia and I firmly believe that the most compelling way to challenge the negative stereotypes of the Adult Industry proliferated over the years is by addressing through tangible deeds and actions the community issues most commonly blamed as being results of pornography by opportunistic politicians and special interest groups with agendas requiring a handy scapegoat to saddle blame upon. Some of our goals and objectives are to create a non-profit branch of P.T.V. in order to make donations to the community to battered women’s shelters, rape crisis centers, soup kitchens and similar groups in need. P.T.V. will challenge the status quo and shift the paradigm. To “Porn The Vote” means to change our world through participating in the political process and thereby improving our communities and every life being lived that we can encourage and aid. Together, we can Porn The Vote and make a difference!

Voting is our right and our responsibility!
The past elections reveal increasing apathy with abysmal voter turnout. People choose not to participate either because they are simply lazy or more likely that they believe their vote is insignificant and won’t make a difference in the bigger picture.
People wake up! Every individual counts and stimulates a chain reaction of power. In history, it is proven that when the mass of people unite, there is not an army on the Earth that can stop their inertia or strength.
When citizens shirk their responsibility to vote, they give up their voice in regard to the policies and activities of our government. Porn the Vote exists to facilitate voter registration and to encourage American citizens to register and vote in the upcoming 2008 Presidential election. Use your rights and participate in the democratic process and exercise your vote!!
I have written essays about issues I feel strongly about. Your input on these issues is welcomed as well as any blogs, chats and emails. Dialogue and debate is encouraged. Individuals are entitled to their views and opinions. Personal beliefs and positions are equally valid from one person to the next. Please refrain from attacking or belittling another person; instead, debate in a logical and unemotional manner.
If a conflict arises, look at your opponent’s position and analyze which statements are supported by fact, or at least those that are related to a logical argument.
Persia’s Palace does not endorse a political party, group or candidate. This would not be conducive to an impartial and fair discussion, and furthermore, we are not going to dwell on polarizing issues to the exclusion of everything else.
An impressionable quote from Gertrude Stein, “Everybody gets so much information all day long that they lose their common sense.” This seems to be the case particularly during election time.
It is vital that as a society we make informed and rational decisions based on facts when we cast our vote at the polls. Our collective vote insures that we are responsible for placing enlightened leadership to direct our Nation’s future.
